Company Description

Nomaco Inc. specializes in the development and manufacturing of custom-engineered, thermoplastic foam extrusions. During Nomaco's first three decades of business, the company became the leader in its field, and repeatedly created breakthrough products, innovative capabilities and new markets. Most notable is the development of the high-quality Nomacorc synthetic wine closure, a business which became an independent company in 1999 in order to pursue an aggressive worldwide expansion plan. Today, the business units of Nomaco have evolved into autonomous operating entities. These include Nomaco Home Furnishings, Nomaco Insulation, Nomaco Engineered Foam Solutions and Construction Foam Products.

For 20 years, Nomaco has been providing foam components to the bedding and home furnishings industry. Today, Nomaco Home Furnishings is the leading supplier of LDPE extrusion profiles for this industry. This company's innovation has replaced polyurethane and steel with LDPE components providing superior performance, competitive pricing and creative solutions.

History & Background

  • 1950 – Gert Noël founds Noël Marquet & Cie SA in Belgium.
  • 1977 – NMC pioneers flexible pipe insulation.
  • 1979 – Marc Noël launches company’s U.S. operation. Nomaco incorporates on June 12, headquartered in Ansonia, CT and introduces direct-extruded flexible pipe insulation to U.S. market.
  • 1986 – Nomaco begins manufacturing products for sporting goods, agriculture and personal care industries.
  • 1988 – Operations move to Zebulon, NC, and company begins converting to CFC-free process. Nomaco is the first manufacturer in the industry to extrude without chlorofluorocarbons.
  • 1992 – Nomaco begins supplying mattress components to the bedding industry.
  • 1993 – Manufacturing of pool noodles and backer rod begins.
  • 1996 – Noël Group forms as industrial holding company.
  • 1997 – Nomaco develops Nomacorc synthetic wine closure.
  • 1999 – Nomacorc becomes a stand-alone company and launches first product, sells 11 million closures in its first year.
  • 2005 – Nomaco opens a western manufacturing and warehousing facility in Oklahoma City, OK
  • 2007 – Noël Group acquires Spongex LLC, moving its production from Connecticut to Tarboro, NC.
  • 2009 – Nomaco applies Noël Group’s new operating philosophy which establishes platform for creation of numerous small, autonomous businesses: Nomaco Home Furnishings, Engineered Foam Solutions, Nomaco Insulation, and Construction Foam Products.
